The Hestia Design Process
It all starts with an idea and a photograph: Send us a color photograph, postcard or brochure of the building or scene you would like to commemorate.The color images don’t need to be professional, but they need to provide us with a full head-on image, containing a lot of details. Our artists take the details from your photos to create a vibrant miniature likeness for your personalized watercolors, ceramics, ornaments and miniatures.
If we are creating AmeriScape ornaments or VillageScape miniatures:
Our Artists Make a Sketch: Taking inspiration from the details of your photo, postcard or brochure, one of our artists creates a pen and ink sketch that becomes the first draft of your ornament or miniature. We fax a copy of this sketch for your approval. This is the time to make any detailed changes to your custom piece.
We Create Your Prototype: Using the approved version of the sketch, we hand-sculpt your ornament or miniature out of clay, using special tools to create the detailing.
After the clay miniature has dried, we use it to create a mold. The prototype miniature is hand-poured and painted using fine point brushes and your photographs to create a captivating likeness. The finished prototype is dipped into gloss sealer and dried, and sent to you for your approval.
You Approve the Prototype: After you approve the prototype we use it to fulfill your order. The prototype is yours to keep. Your production order is shipped approximately six to eight weeks after all the order details are finalized. The minimum for a first order is 50 pieces. Since each miniature in your order is hand-painted, there may be slight variations between pieces.
Re-order: We will produce more miniatures whenever you request them. The minimum re-order is 25 pieces, and the lead time is approximately six weeks. You can re-order as often as you like.
